FAQs

Webshop Products

Can your products be frozen?

Yes many of our products can be frozen; all storage information is under each individual item on the web shop under the tab shelf life. We do not use any preservatives in our baking, so some products have a limited shelf life, but can be frozen and refreshed to be as tasty and texturally sound as when fresh.

How do you freeze the bread?

We recommend slicing the bread and then freezing in a freezer bag, you can then defrost the amount you need, keeping the rest frozen for later.

Can I have a celebration cake delivered?

Sadly no, the cakes are too fragile for dispatch.

How do I order a celebration cake?

Please note the celebration cakes are for collection only. We can offer collection Wednesdays to Saturdays 10am to 4 pm from our cafe/shop. Cakes can be ordered through the web shop, we do need at least a week’s notice for celebration cakes (if it is needed with short notice send us an email and we will see if it is possible before you place your order) Date of collection needs to be added to the additional notes box when checking out, and please make sure you enter a valid email address and telephone number in case we need to contact you regarding your order.

Do you sell anything that is egg free, dairy free, soy free etc as well as gluten free?

Everything we sell is completely Gluten free, we also have many products that are free from other major allergens. If you go onto the web shop you can search using our allergen remover, just click on the picture of the ingredient you want to remove and it will list all the items we have in that category. You can also see a full list of ingredients for each product under the individual product listing.

Do you use wheat in any of your products?

No, we don’t use wheat in any of our products.

Why do you not have all the products in the cafe/shop to order in the web shop?

Many of our products such as the mini iced cakes would not survive delivery, and some items need to be chilled. Many of the savoury pasties need to be eaten fresh, and are produced in limited amounts so sadly cannot be added to the web shop.

When will I get my delivery?

We bake for dispatch twice a week, with deliveries made on Wednesday and Thursday. You can choose a nominated delivery day at checkout up to 4 weeks in advance.

The cut off time for same week delivery is every Monday at 8am. This is to give us time to process the orders and create bakelists for our bakers, who then bake everything fresh for each dispatch. We are a small artisan team and that means there is a maximum limit to the amount we can produce each week.

Doughnuts

Are the doughnuts dairy free or vegan?
Our doughnuts are dairy free, but do contain egg so are not suitable for vegans.
Why do you not sell all the flavours of doughnut you have in your cafe on your web shop?

A lot of our doughnut flavours (like our Lemon Meringue Pie Doughnut) are not suitable for posting as they're too delicate or perishable.

Can the doughnuts be frozen?

Yes! After some experimentation we have worked out how to freeze and defrost the doughnuts so they are still fluffy and tasty.

The doughnuts are baked fresh to order, and best enjoyed on the day of delivery. If you are not planning on eating them soon, you can freeze them for up to 3 months. Just pop the doughnut (in the tub it came in) in the freezer, then defrost completely in the tub. This is because if any humidity gets to the icing as it defrosts, it will melt and run off. Sugared doughnuts are even easier. They can be popped straight in the microwave from frozen (take them out of the tub first as the tub will melt in the microwave!)

We even have a video on facebook on how to sugar and shake your doughnut for the plain doughnut, remove all packaging, pop the doughnut in the microwave on medium/high setting for 30 seconds, pop your doughnut in the sugar bag and shake, then sit back and enjoy!

Are the doughnuts available in the cafe/shop?

Yes they are, we often have a bigger selection of flavours in our cafe/ shop than online, so it is well worth a visit if you are in Leeds.
